Whoo's Whoooo On Etsy

I have developed a fondness for owls, so I decided to see what I could find if I searched for "Owls" on Etsy. Just look at these cute little guys! I love them all and this is just the tip of the iceberg! There are sooo many of them!

Good Sunday evening! Nothing much going on here. It's HOT, but not as bad as the previous few days. Saturday was a yard sale day and we found treasures. Tania's been busy listing things on Etsy and I've added a few. http://www.thevintagedresser.etsy.com Not all were this weekend's finds. I always seem to be working at least a week behind getting things listed. I need to make myself a schedule---take photos in the morning, edit and put them in Photobucket in the afternoon, list things on eBay & Etsy in the evening. Sounds do-able, huh? But I seem to have motivation issues! And life gets in the way, too. But I muddle along and get things done eventually! LOL!
Good night,

Floppy Disc Case Tutorial

I got a bag full of these clear plastic floppy disc cases at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I still live in the dark ages of floppy discs, since I use a Sony Mavica camera. It doesn't use SD cards or any of the newer technology. It uses floppies and I love it! Consequently, I have them everywhere and when I saw these, I saw an organizing opportunity! But they're kind of uninspiring in their clear state, so I decided I could cover them with scrapbook paper and pretty them up a little. So here are the supplies all gathered up, except for the tape runner that I used to adhere the paper to the plastic. Time will tell if it holds up, but it seemed to be the best solution.

Plastic case, coordinating papers, scissors, distress ink pad, adhesive, swirl stamp and stamp block---all set!
I just laid the box onto the scrapbook paper and marked the different sizes for sides, front and back. (Didn't cover the bottom). Then used my rotary cutter to cut them out. I applied adhesive with a tape runner to the edges and a little in the centers, carefully placed the pieces and pressed in place. Then I rubbed ink directly from the distress ink pad onto all the edges. It was beginning to shape up but needed more, so I used the same ink and a swirl stamp and added swirls to all the surfaces.
So, for a little time, paper and ink, I've got a prettied up disc case!

One down and nine more to go!

Yard Sale Finds

Tania and I went yard saling Saturday (as usual!) and here are the goodies I managed to cull from the debris that most of the sales consisted of. I don't remember how many sales we stopped at, but I think most of these goodies came from 3 or 4 only. The first one we stopped at was the best! I got the picnic basket, black plastic quilted-reversible card table cover, recipe box, decorated coffee can, vintage plastic fast food spoons & raggedy ann cake pan all there.
The apron hanging on the chair and the pretty hot pad were from a free box at another sale. Well, the apron was in the free box and when I asked the price of the hot pad, she said I could
have it!
I love the West Bend cake cover. I've always been partial to copper, even tho this is faux copper. The recipe box is from Avon. It originally came with orange shaped soaps inside. The Raggedy Ann cake form is Wilton from 1971.
The black card table cover is quilted plastic and reversible. The pretty floral corner you can see is the reverse side. The various plastic spoons from fast food restaurants were in a bag full of plastic spoons that were inside the picnic basket. There was also a set of Melmac dinnerware inside the basket! Forgot to get a picture of that. It isn't the prettiest--avacado green mostly. The litle kissing angels, made in Korea, and the chicken plaque were from another sale. Too cute!

As for the basket---I needed this like a hole in the head! As you can see in the background of a couple of these pictures, I have several of them! And there are more that didn't get in the pictures. BUT---it was only 50¢!!! How could I pass up a deal like that?!

Another rather cockeyed view of some of some of the goodies.

Tania also went home with armsfull of treasures, so all in all, it was a very productive day, even tho we drove past sale after sale without even stopping. You can usually just tell if they're worth the effort. And since the temperature was rapidly rising into the high 90's, you have to pick your "battles"!

Happy Fourth of July!

Wishing everyone a fun and fabulous Fourth of July! We'll be going to Tania's in the afternoon for a barbecue and to watch the fireworks later (that is, if we can stick it out that long!) It's so late when it finally gets dark this time of year. Ya---we're really party people!! It's sad! LOL!
