The Long, Long Weekend Project

This past weekend was a busy one. Tania has a storage shed at the side of her house that she had big plans for. And those plans included me (her mom) and her dad!  If' you've read any of her posts on her blog  http://oohlalacestmagnifique.blogspot.com , you'll know that we've helped her with several projects---especially her dad!

So, we started on Friday with the transformation of her storage shed into a "Garden Shed".  This is the inspiration she was working from:

Friday morning Tania got busy cleaning out her shed. You'll be able to see what she had crammed in there by looking at her blog  http://oohlalacestmagnifique.blogspot.com .  Not much-----just enough to fill a small pole building!
She had purchased pegboard, so the measuring and sawing began!  Fred (dad) had volunteered to add a window so she'd have some light. Back behind this bush is where they decided it should go. Maybe Tania will have a picture after she pruned the bush a little, so you can actually see the new window.

At one point during the window installation Fred asked us to get him a finishing nail. We're digging around looking for what you would assume would be a small headless nail, but he goes "No, no---it's this one", and pulls out this spike from his nail collection!  He needed something to hold the window in a certain position and the "finishing" nail was the perfect size!
There was lots of measuring, marking and sawing taking place over the next few days.  We never got a really early start any of the three days, which explains why it took 3 days!  We worked till it got too dark to continue each day.

I think this is day three below!  We're getting close!

Tania painted a couple of metal shelves to put back into the shed and Fred was working on building a base for a table top that Tania found at a yard sale a few weeks ago.
This black bench was one Tania already had. We moved it into the shed and she started taping off areas to paint. Each painted area will be a place to hang various tools and garden supplies.

The red took several coats. The green was THICK old paint, so it went on pretty heavily!
Look at that cute window!  It's amazing how it lights up the interior of this small space!
From inside, looking toward the door.

Red and green shelves in place and the bench at the end---the one Fred built a base for. The top is a vintage long narrow formica covered metal counter top. It sits down onto the base and can be removed, making it a little less heavy to move around.

Here we are at dark on the third day---pretty much done with the carpentry. Now Tania gets the fun of trying to fit everything back into this space that she took out!  She'll be showing us how that comes along on her blog.
These were the supervisors during this project. As you can see, they have become bored with the whole thing and found other things to occupy their time---chewing & sleeping!
